5 Style Icons for Every Student

All of the women below, in my opinion, have massive amounts of style. The reason I have chosen these in particular, is that their style constitutes what is considered “student fashion” i.e. leather jackets, denim, ballet flats, and vintage inspired styles to name a few aspects.

Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel

I have always loved Zooey’s style, it’s very laid-back, and yet she always manages to look amazing. She is inspirational because she shows that you don’t need to overdo it on the glamour front to look good. She also reflects the laid-back street style that many people associate with the student market, and isn’t afraid to go vintage.

Fearne Cotton

Fearne has amazing style, which is often featured in fashion magazines and on websites. Her quirkiness is my favourite aspect of her style. Her signature is animal print, particularly leopard, and her style is emulated by many a young girl walking down the street.

Debbie Harry

Debbie Harry

One of the most iconic women in the music industry in the 70s and 80s, Debbie’s rock chick style has been inspirational for decades. Her fondness for bedhair is also a popular style feature which many girls adopt to their own style, me included. Debbie also wasn’t afraid to wear what she wanted to—the original Kate Moss figure.

Kate Moss

Kate Moss

The epitome of young British trends, Kate has inspired girls all over the world. Her messy style is appealing to young girls especially, and the fact she is so closely linked with the music industry also appeals to young girls. I cannot talk about Kate Moss enough, her style is my favourite, whether it’s Breton style tops and jeans or leather jackets, miniskirts and ankle boots, she always looks stylish.

Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn

In my opinion, the most stylish woman ever (who also happens to star in what I think is the most stylish film ever). Her beauty and grace helped her emphasise what was perfect about her; everything. She influenced girls everywhere, and continues to do so with her classic style.

There are also so many more women who I think are style icons, for example Alexa Chung, Edie Sedgwick and Kate Nash. And there are also many, many men who I think are style icons, like David Bowie, Jude Law and David Beckham. But the reason I chose these 5 was to get people to think about who influences their style?

So who do you consider style icons and why? And do you agree with my list of stylish women?
